Catalogue for Intimacy
In recent years the way we experience intimate relationships has changed. There is a powerful trend to gage intimacy through the superficial lens of a consumer society – novelty, immediacy and disposability. Catalogue for Intimacy explores the concept of intimacy, resulting in the creation of a series of objects that are functional only when used by two people.
I welded two chairs together to create a new chair reliant on the balanced weight of two people. Users will need to work through the practicalities of sitting down and getting up from the chair, as well as having to concentrate on carefully balancing their weight throughout the duration of the sitting. The excersise encourages verbal communication and physical touch.
